TAB Lock In Pearl For The Phoenix Assault

WAGERING giant TAB will pin their faith in New South Wales superstar She’s A Pearl in their pursuit of The Phoenix at The Meadows on December 17.

Boasting a record of 25 wins from 39 starts including victories in the Million Dollar Chase and Golden Easter Egg, She’s A Pearl’s prizemoney recently soared to a world record tally of $1,375,470.

But it was ultimately her gallant second to defending The Phoenix champion Wow She’s Fast in Saturday’s Group 3 Shootout (515m) at Sandown Park that secured her place in next month’s $1.65 million showpiece.

Racing for the first time outside of NSW, the Andy and Jodie Lord-trained daughter of Aston Dee Bee stuck to her guns in the $50,000-to-the-winner feature, the perfect audition ahead of an audacious Victorian campaign consisting of the Melbourne Cup and The Phoenix.

Tabcorp Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Adam Rytenskild said TAB was excited to be part of The Phoenix again in 2022, particularly with a greyhound the calibre of She’s A Pearl.

“We’re thrilled to have secured She’s A Pearl for our slot in The Phoenix. She’s Australian greyhound racing’s highest-ever prizemoney earner and has proven her star quality time and time again in the big races over the last few seasons,” he said.

“She’s shown what a champion she is winning the Golden Easter Egg and May’s edition of the TAB Million Dollar Chase, and we are really pleased with her second in The Shootout last Saturday night at Sandown Park. We’re confident she can go one better in The Phoenix.

“Added to that there are a number of Tabcorp staff who are part of the ownership group, so She’s A Pearl is a dog the whole company can get behind.”

She’s A Pearl joins Wow She’s Fast (Sportsbet) and Plaintiff (Neds) as guaranteed runners in the $1m-to-the-winner slot race on Saturday, December 17.

All-in markets currently have She’s A Pearl and Wow She’s Fast atop of betting at $3 while Plaintiff and Amron Boy are on the second line at $7
