THE PHOENIX IS RISING AGAIN

The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association is proud to announce that the world’s richest greyhound race, The Phoenix, will again be run at The Meadows on December 16 in 2023.

Eight Slots. Eight Greyhounds. $1,650,000 in prizemoney. The slots for The Phoenix 2023 are set to be highly sought after by participants, syndicates and businesses with applications set to open from Monday 24 July at the price set in 2022; $100,000. Melbourne Greyhounds CEO Scott Wuchatsch is determined to continue to grow the worlds richest greyhound race. “The 2022 edition of The Phoenix saw unprecedented media coverage and awareness of greyhound racing with Wow She’s Fast going back-to-back to elevate her as the highest prizemoney earning greyhound of all time. “The Meadows is renowned for elite racing, hosting events of the calibre of the Australian Cup, Topgun & Maturity Classic throughout the year but The Phoenix has in a short period established itself as one of the most sought after and exciting events in the country,” said Scott.

Former Premier of Victoria Dr Denis Napthine AO will again lead the Independent Assessment Panel (IAP) who will have the responsibility for selecting the successful eight slot holders.

· Reserves confirmed Wednesday 13 December 2023

· Running of the $1.65 million The Phoenix Saturday 16 December 2023
